Harvesting of the Lavender
When we were contemplating calling Seal Dove Hacienda our home, one of the deciding factors that pushed us towards HELLZ YASSSS was all of the beautiful lavender all over the property. The former home owners, again, French, LOVED lavender and thus we found ourselves with forty-two magnificent lavender bushes. One of the first things we did was give all of these babes a haircut because by February 2021, they were in desperate need of a trim. We did not see too much lavender that first spring, but my oh my, what a haircut will do, a year later!!
Our bushes have become home to some of the most gorgeous butterflies and also our beebies are enjoying hopping from stem to stem!
It’s always been my dream to have my very own field, rich with the sweet scent of lavender and this year this dream came true! There was no chasing some IG lavender fields, but instead I enjoyed frolicking with the butterflies and bees. Eventually I had get to business and start our harvest! Two weeks later and nearly 40 hours later, I am soooo happy to have over 20 lbs of home grown, hand harvested, delicious lavender that I’ll use for some home made essential oil, body oil, facial mist, facial moisturizer, soap and confetti!!
